Police: 2 bodies found in burning car; no criminality suspected

Investigators say no criminality is suspected after two bodies were found in a burning car at a parking garage at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.

Officers were called to the scene of the car fire in the Sears parking garage around 11 p.m. Sunday. They found the bodies in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished.

Police say they have determined it was a double suicide. They have ruled out homicide and accidental car fire in the case.

The Nassau County Medical Examiner's Officer has determined that both of the deceased were females. Police had said earlier that one occupant was a male.

As is standard in cases of suspected suicide, police will not release the identities of the deceased.

Authorities say their investigation is ongoing.
