Police: Masked man robs W. Babylon grocery at knifepoint

The knifepoint robber behind a spree of holdups in both Nassau and Suffolk struck again Tuesday afternoon, police say.

The knife-wielding man in a mask robbed The Barn on Belmont Avenue in West Babylon just before 2 p.m., according to authorities.

They say the holdup matches a pattern used by a serial robber who has struck at least nine food chain stores across Long Island since February.

The Barn manager Donna Dawes says she has surveillance cameras at her business and she hopes the video will help police catch the suspect.

It wasn't immediately clear how much money was taken. Police say there were no injuries during the incident.

As News 12 has reported, in each robbery case, the suspect wears a mask and uses a large knife or machete to demand cash. He has also held up Carvel and Subway stores and a Dunkin' Donuts.

Suffolk police say they're working closely with the Nassau robbery squad to track down the suspect.
