Police: Pattern knifepoint robber holds up 2 stores in 1 day

Police say the man behind a string of knifepoint robberies on Long Island has struck again, twice in one day.

Police say the most recent robbery was at a Game Stop just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, the man was wearing a mask and armed with a large kitchen knife when he entered the store on Sunrise Highway in Merrick.

Police say the man threatened a clerk and demanded money from the register. The suspect fled with cash and no one was hurt.

Earlier in the day, police say the armed suspect robbed a convenience store, The Barn, on Belmont Avenue in West Babylon just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Like the previous hold-ups, police say the suspect was wearing a mask and held a worker at knifepoint.

Police say the robbery fits the pattern of at least four holdups in Suffolk and eight in Nassau since the middle of February.
