Colleen McVey is an Emmy-award winning news anchor who has been at News 12 Long Island for more than 30 years. She was the first morning anchor, before moving to the Nighttime newscasts beginning in 1988.
Before News 12 Long Island, Colleen worked at KTVI-Channel 2 in St. Louis, Missouri, WSTM-Channel 3 in Syracuse, New York, and WROC-Channel 8 in Rochester, New York.
In the last 30 years McVey has covered some of the Island's most memorable and historic events. She anchored News 12's live breaking news coverage of the Avianca Plane Crash in Cove Neck in 1990, the Long Island Railroad massacre in 1993, the TWA Flight 800 disaster in 1996, the aftermath of 9/11 terror attacks, Hurricane Irene, and Super Storm Sandy.
A consummate professional, McVey has been the Lustgarten Walk's "kick-off" host for more than 15 years. Her ongoing commitment to this cause has helped the event grow year over year in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
McVey lives on the Island with her husband, Tony, and three children Matt, Greg, and Maggie.
