Long Beach to enforce plastic bag fees starting Saturday

LONG BEACH -

Starting Saturday, there will be no more free plastic bags in Long Beach.

On Earth Day, residents will start paying a 5-cent free on non-reusable bags.

The Long Beach City Council unanimously approved the move in October.

Suffolk County will implement a similar plastic bag fee next year.
