Center Moriches girl cooks up success on ‘MasterChef Junior’
She may be only 11, but a Center Moriches girl already knows the recipe for success.
Kayla Mitchell, of "MasterChef Junior" fame, has been used to pots and pans since the second grade. It started when she was home sick from school a few years back.
"All my friends were at school and I started watching cooking shows," she says.
Now Kayla gets to cook for the demanding Gordon Ramsay.
"It was really nerve-wracking when you first meet him," she says. "He's smiling, but he's very intimidating."
When she's not in the kitchen, Kayla is a member of her school's drama club and student council. She also plays lacrosse, basketball and soccer.
