Police: Woman killed in Wyandanch hit-and-run

Police are searching for the driver who hit a woman in Wyandanch and fled the scene.

Police say Raina Campbell, 48, of Wyandanch, was walking westbound on East Booker Avenue just before 7 p.m. Monday night when the incident occurred.

According to police, Campbell was hit by a driver on the same street she lived. Campbell was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Campbell was a mother to four kids and also a grandmother, her sister told News 12.

Police say the car they're looking for has front-end damage and took off toward Straight Path while getting away. They say the vehicle is a small to mid-size sedan.

Authorities say they are reviewing surveillance footage from homes and businesses in the area in an effort to identify a suspect.

Anyone with more information is asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS.
