Police: Man shot, killed in Mineola
A man was shot and killed in front of his Mineola home Sunday night.
The victim has been identified by family members as 44-year-old Oscar Ventura Granados. He was gunned down after he got out of a cab at his Roslyn Road home at around 9:30 p.m.
A neighbor who lives across the street shared home surveillance video with News 12. At the time of the shooting, the grainy video shows a man walking up to the house and then being confronted by second person.
Before the shooting, the victim's brother says he heard someone say, "Give me the money." However, police say the shooter left behind Granados' wallet, cash and cellphone.
Granados' family tells News 12 he was a hard-working painter who enjoyed going to casinos, but they're unsure if he was gambling last night in the hours before his death.
Investigators say they are trying to determine Granados' whereabouts. Nassau Police Detective Capt. John Azzata said he could not confirm that the victim had been targeted, but said the investigation is "leaning in that direction."
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Police have not released a description of the shooter.
