Farmingdale family safe after cruise ship capsizes

A family from Farmingdale was among the tourists onboard a catamaran cruise ship that capsized off the coast of Costa Rica Thursday morning.
Janet Brenner O'Keefe told News 12 that she and her two children were on the boat before it was overcome by strong waves. They survived the ordeal.
News 12 is told that O'Keefe's son Ryan is being hailed as a hero for helping others stay afloat during the incident.
The catamaran was carrying 98 passengers and 10 crew members when it sunk. Three people were killed.
