Crews battle fire after gas station explosion in Brentwood

Crews from multiple fire departments battled a fire after an explosion at a gas station in Brentwood Monday afternoon.
Fire officials say the explosion happened at a BP gas station located at 725 Suffolk Ave. at around 4:45 p.m. They say a car apparently exploded inside the gas station's garage.
Crews from seven departments were on the scene, including Brentwood, Central Islip and Islip fire departments.
No injuries have been reported, even though several mechanics were inside the garage when the car exploded.
The owner of the gas station says he is devastated because the station has been in his family for 20 years.
