A host family is outraged after a foreign exchange student was denied bus service to school.

Jack, a student from China who did not want to use his last name, is living in the Huntington School District.

His host family says that for the last year and a half, the district provided Jack with bus transportation to Lutheran High School in Brookville. They say for reasons unclear, the family was notified the bussing would soon end.

"We received a letter taped to our door, not even mailed, just taped to our door, that they are no longer providing bussing," said host parent Rob McGrew.

The letter from the school district stated Jack is not a resident of the district and his parents, who live in China, are not residents - therefore he is not eligible to receive district transportation.

The letter also stated that the bus service would no longer be available to Jack after the Christmas break.

"Of course I am upset," Jack told News 12. "You can't just do that to me."

The McGrew family says they have obtained an attorney and will pursue this matter in the courts. Huntington School District has not returned calls to comment on this story.
