Cops: Man with gun threatened student at Stony Brook University

Police say a man attempted to kidnap his former girlfriend at Stony Brook University Saturday afternoon, and he had a gun and meat cleaver with him.
Investigators say Joseph Bryan Lloyd, 30, of Brooklyn, made his way onto campus wearing a wig. Lloyd, who is not a student, allegedly forced himself into his ex-girlfriend's office in the campus' social and behavioral sciences building.
Police say Lloyd held the woman for over an hour, and allegedly threatened to kill her.
The woman, who is a graduate student at Stony Brook, was able to escape by telling the suspect that she had to use the restroom. She ran out of the building and called police.
The victim's call set off a campus-wide search. Lloyd was found near the Stony Brook train station in less than 30 minutes, according to police.
Police say Lloyd's weapon was found unloaded. He also had a meat cleaver in one of his backpacks, police say.
Lloyd has been charged with second-degree robbery and burglary, criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property and menacing.
