A recent News 12/Hofstra poll asked residents if they're more financially secure than they were a year ago.
The poll showed 44 percent feel just about the same financially as last year, while 37 percent feel less secure. Only 16 percent said they were more secure.
Economists were not surprised at the results, and say they show that the income of Long Islanders isn't keeping pace with the high cost of living here.
