A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday at the future site of the expanded Stony Brook Children's Hospital. The hospital will a new 10-level pavilion located next to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Groundbreaking held for expanded Stony Brook Children's Hospital
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday at the future site of the expanded Stony Brook Children's Hospital.
The hospital will a new 10-level pavilion located next to Stony Brook University Hospital. The hospital has received $53 million in funding from the state, along with $20 million in donations.
"This new home for the Stony Brook Children's Hospital is going to be transformative and it's going to be extremely patient friendly and family friendly," says Ken Kaushansky, the dean of the Stony Brook School of Medicine.
The hospital is expected to be completed by 2016.
