Hofstra baseball player, Eric Peterson, accused of exposing himself to student in class

A Hofstra University student is accused of exposing himself to a fellow student while in class.
Eric Peterson, a Hofstra baseball player, was charged with a misdemeanor charge of public lewdness.
According to the criminal complaint, a 19-year-old female student says Peterson exposed himself to her while in an accounting class in the CV Starr building earlier this month. News 12 spoke to the sophomore student, who says she has text messages from the baseball player asking her to touch him while he exposed himself to her.
Peterson was released without bond. Sources tell News 12 that Hofstra University has launched its own investigation. In a statement to News 12, the university says, "Due to student privacy laws and our own policies, the internal proceedings are private."
The judge has issued an order of protection for the victim.
Attorney Marc Gann says Peterson "adamantly denies" the charges against him.
Hofstra University confirmed that Peterson has been suspended from the baseball team pending further review of his case. He is due back in court next month.
