Heroin has developed a frightening grip on Long Island's youth in a way not seen for decades. But how can people in recovery fight the stigma of addiction? In part six of News 12 Long Island's Heroin: Addicted on Long Island series, co-founders of a Long Island website discuss the project that is dedicated to helping recovering addicts break their silence.
I Am Not Anonymous is a website photo essay project. It is filled with self-portraits and personal stories of recovering addicts.
The creators of the site believe that the site helps people in recovery come forward to change the stigma of addiction by breaking their silence. Their mission is to bring the solution into the conversation in the hope of helping those who remain untreated.
Co-founders Tom Goris, a recovering addict, and his girlfriend Kate are both from Long Island.
