Police: Man dies after self-inflicted gunshot wound in Oceanside standoff
A man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a six-hour standoff in Oceanside Tuesday night, police say.
SWAT teams and emergency service vehicles responded to a call regarding a distressed, possibly armed man on Davison Avenue at around 4 p.m. Neighbors say there was a confrontation at his home earlier in the day.
The street was blocked off for hours while police tried to make contact with the man inside his home. Police entered the home at around 10 p.m. where they found the man's body.
Neighbors say he was a veteran and was always seen walking his dog in the neighborhood.
His identity has not yet been released.
