Lockout lifted at Roslyn schools after area robbery
Schools in the Roslyn School District were put on lockout this afternoon after a robbery in the area.
Students at Harbor Hill Elementary School had been dismissed at the normal time, but the other four schools had remained on lockout. At around 3 p.m., police gave all schools the all-clear.
According to police, the robbery that prompted the lockdown involved a male who approached a 58-year-old female who was sitting in a Mercedes Benz at the Holiday Farms lot. The suspect demanded her jewelry and took her wedding ring before fleeing on foot, heading east on the south service road of the Long Island Expressway.
The suspect is described as a male between 30-40 years old. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and khaki pants. No injuries were reported.
