Cars vandalized in Amityville neighborhood

Police say about 20 cars were vandalized overnight in an Amityville neighborhood.

Some cars had tires slashed while others were keyed. Authorities say some of the crimes constitute a felony, depending on the cost of damage.

The spree was spread over a four-block area on Dareka Street, Geraldine Avenue, The Boulevard and Nathalie Avenue.

The vehicles appear to have been randomly targeted.

Authorities are attempting to determine if there is any connection to previous vandalism that occurred nearby back in April.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact the 1st Precinct at 631-854-8152.
