Cellphone tower at Bohemia fire station canceled

Officials from the Bohemia Fire Department have decided to cancel plans for cellphone towers on their property.

Many residents opposed the plan from the start. Those against it say they were concerned about health risks and lowered property values if the cellphone towers were built. The fire department planned on installing the towers to help improve communications.

Residents who attended the public meeting were outraged when the board of commissioners declared they would be going into executive session with no public session.

Twenty minutes into executive session, the board returned and announced they would be canceling the cellphone tower contract.
