Edna Louise Spear Elementary School students in Port Jefferson create Sept. 11 heroes quilt

Second-graders in Port Jefferson learned about the heroes of Sept. 11 in class Thursday.

Students at Edna Louise Spear Elementary school were told about the people who helped others during that tragic time.

Teacher Laura Kelly told her students about the important jobs community heroes play in their daily lives. They drew pictures of those heroes on a paper quilt.

The classes came together to create a giant Sept. 11 quilt, which will be hung in a hallway at the school.
