Islip man accused of stealing thousands from Telecare TV station

An Islip man who worked for the Diocese of Rockville Centre is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the church.

Joseph Kosik worked as the chief engineer for Telecare, the television station run by the diocese. He also had a private company that was hired to do yard work around Telecare's towers. Police say over the past several years, Kosik charged Telecare for $68,000 of work the church claims was never done.

A spokesman for the diocese says the problem was discovered during a routine audit and the church contacted police. Kosiks attorney tells News 12 Long Island that his client is involved in a lawsuit against the diocese, which he claims brought about the charges against Kosik.

Kosik is charged with grand larceny and has been released without bail.
