Hempstead food pantry packing up holiday meals despite donation shortage

The Mary Brennan INN of Hempstead is asking for a helping hand this Thanksgiving. The soup kitchen says it is in desperate need of more donations to feed the Island's needy this holiday.

Some of the items donated so far were packed up Monday and given away to 1,200 people so they can cook at home. As part of the efforts, the Jets Womans Organization was among those donating fruit and helping with decorations.

INN officials say they are in need of additional donations including turkeys, gift certificates and cash.
