Three suspects still at large after police shootout in Baldwin
Schools in nine districts were locked down and residents were on edge Monday after police were involved in a shooting in Baldwin.
Police officials say the Nassau County Bureau of Special Operations was on a stakeout when they started following a car of five suspected bank robbers. The car eventually crashed on Marion Place in Baldwin and the suspects then took off on foot. According to police, one suspect got out of the car and displayed a weapon. That's when an officer fired shots at that suspect. No one was injured in the shooting.
Police were able to apprehend two of the suspects in a back yard on Florence Street. The other three suspects are still at large.
