NYPD officer from Elmont killed in Brooklyn shooting

A NYC police officer killed in a Brooklyn shooting Monday has been identified as Officer Dillon Stewart, of Elmont.

The 35-year-old, five-year veteran of the NYPD was shot in the chest around 2:50 a.m. at the corner of East 21st Street and Courtelyou Road in East Flatbush. Mayor Bloomberg says a suspect, 27-year-old Allan Cameron, is in custody. Cameron has not been formally charged in the shooting.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says one bullet went into Stewarts left side, between to protective panels of his bullet proof vest.
