Fistfight turns into knife fight at Hauppauge High School

Two Hauppauge High School freshmen were rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and a third was arrested after a fistfight escalated Friday.

School officials say a fight broke out between two ninth-grade boys in the third floor hallway of the language wing. Officials say one boy then stabbed the other in the chest and abdomen with an Exacto-knife. A third boy came to help and was also stabbed.

The two boys were rushed by ambulance to Stony Brook University Medical Center. One was released and the other is being held overnight for observation. The arrested teen, whose identity is being protected because he is 14, was charged as a juvenile delinquent and released to his parents.
