Parents outraged at learning accused rapist is driving Huntington school bus

Parents in Huntington were angered after learning a man accused of rape has been driving their children to and from school.

Andrew Hamil, 27, who has been driving a bus for the South Huntington School District, has a rape charge pending against him. The grand jury has also added charges of sex abuse, sodomy and endangering the welfare of a minor to the rape charges. A spokesperson for the district says officials were not initially aware of the severity of the charges against Hamil. They say he was suspended last week. However, sources tell News 12 Long Island that Hamil was driving the bus on Tuesday morning.

Parents say they are outraged the school district allowed Hamil to continue driving their kids. They say the school should have put the welfare of their children first.
