Tanker driver arrested for DWI in Bohemia

The driver of a tanker carrying jet fuel was arrested for drunk driving in Bohemia Friday night.

Police say the tanker was spotted by a driver swerving in the right lane on Lakeland Avenue by Sunrise Highway. That driver called 911 and police pulled the tanker over near Veterans Highway. Norman Martin, of Bay Shore, was arrested on DWI charges. Martin was on his way to MacArthur Airport to deliver the jet fuel.

Police say Martin worked for Mystic, which is the same company involved in a tanker crash and fuel spill on Sunrise Highway last June. An official with Mystic said Martin has been employed six months and has now been terminated.
