Eight families win chance to buy low-cost housing in Bridgehampton

Eight families won the chance to purchase low-cost housing in Bridgehampton at a lottery Friday.

The eight families were chosen from a group of 69 deemed eligible by the Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP). Officials say 6,500 applications were received for the lottery, which was held at Southampton Town Hall.

The families will now have the opportunity to purchase a home costing between $116,000 and $187,000 in an area where the median price is in excess of $1 million. The event marked the first time the LIHP has held such a lottery east of the Shinnicock Canal.
