Babysitter charged with endangerment in case of drunk Patchogue toddler

A 2-year-old Patchogue boy is in good condition after nearly being poisoned by alcohol.

The babysitter who was caring for the boy and his 3-year-old sister Wednesday is now in jail. Juan Reyes, 37, was supposed to be watching the children while their mother gave birth to her third child. Reyes, who was found drunk and passed out on the couch by police, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.The toddlers father, Jose Gomez, was issued an Order of Protection for allegedly leaving the children alone with an already intoxicated Reyes. It is Gomez's second Order of Protection, the first coming from a domestic violence incident in October. Gomez must now stay away from the house and his children while family protective services investigates.
