Water main break in Islandia causes flooding troubles for residents, businesses

A water main break in Islandia Tuesday caused flooding troubles for many residents and businesses.

The Suffolk Water Authority says a 12-inch main broke near Industrial Park on Hoffman Lane, south of the Long Island Expressway. The power was turned off at many of the businesses and homes near the break.

One business owner says his building, which contained studio equipment and computers, was completely flooded. He says he will have to replace carpeting, walls and equipment.

Crews worked throughout Tuesday to pump out the water. But officials say there is no telling when the job will be finished.
