Valley Stream residents hold demonstration to protest controversial condos

(08/08/05) VALLEY STREAM ? Residents in Valley Stream held a demonstration Monday to protest the construction of a planned condominium complex.

Developers want to build the complex at the site of several abandoned buildings on Gibson Boulevard. Those against the condos say Valley Stream officials approved the project without paying attention to residents? feedback. In addition, some residents say the structure violates the village?s zoning codes.

An attorney for the developers says residents against to the condos are trying to sink the project by using scare tactics. However, members of the opposition group say they just want to make sure the structure is built according to code.
