Dry weather conditions have LI firefighters on high alert

Firefighters on the East End are on high alert to make sure dry conditions don?t spark a brush fire.

According to fire officials, high temperatures and little rain over the past month have made the conditions prime for a large wildfire. The Pine Barrens Task Force met in the Hamptons to discuss options on how to alert the public if there was a major fire.

The American Weather Service says the high humidity does help offset the dry conditions.
