Soldier from Brentwood makes the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq

Another soldier from Long Island has made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq. The Pentagon says 28-year-old Army Specialist Jose Ruiz, of Brentwood, was hit by small arms fire Monday in Mosul. He was assigned to the 21st Infantry Regiment, First Brigade, 25th Infantry Division.

While in Iraq nine months ago, Ruiz?s wife had the couple?s first child. He returned home to New York around Christmas to spend time with his daughter for the first and last time. Ruiz was scheduled return home from Iraq in two weeks.
