After more than 100 years, Amityville's Brunswick Hospital may be shut down

Shockwaves are rippling through the Amityville community as residents learn Brunswick Hospital may be shutting down after 120 years.

Residents say they are concerned about where the community will go for life-saving operation and emergencies. According to hospital officials, discussions are being held with the Department of Health regarding reorganization. Meanwhile, health department officials say talkss are ongoing and the hospital will be required to maintain operations until any decisions are made.

Hospital officials say if the closure does happen, the psychiatric ward, nursing home and rehab center will remain open.
