Islip parents and students team up to save their school sports programs

Dozens of Islip parents teamed up with their children in Brightwaters to raise money for their sports programs.

A large block party was organized to try to raise funds to reinstate middle school sports. The programs were cut after taxpayers voted down the Islip School District?s $55 million budget proposal. Parents and students only have 10 days to raise $78,000.

The community is holding another fundraiser at the Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip on August 24.
