Brunswick Hospital's fate still uncertain as officials review plan

The future of the financially struggling Brunswick Hospital remains in question as talks between hospital officials and the state health department continue.

Hospital administrators have submitted an official plan to the New York State Department of Health to close down the general hospital, which includes the emergency room, trauma center and close to 200 beds. However, hospital officials say the plan is to keep the more profitable psychiatric rehab and nursing home facilities open. They say they will look to reassign as many workers as possible.

The state confirmed that the plan was received, but would not set a timetable. However, hospital officials say they hope to have an answer within a few days.
