Fisherman shows off near record-breaking catch in Babylon

A Long Island fisherman made a lucky catch while fishing Tuesday, snagging a 680-pound mako shark in the Atlantic Ocean.

Joe Nagadino radioed in from his boat that he made such a large catch he could not even get it into his boat. Instead Nagadino had to tow the fish home and a special crane had to be used to lift it from the waters in Babylon.

Nagadino and local fish enthusiasts were hoping the fish would break the International Game Fishing Record of 1,221 pounds.
