Deer Park man arrested for spying on a 14-year-old boy

A convicted sex offender is accused of spying on a 14-year-old boy inside a public bathroom stall at Robert Moses State Park.

The boy says he went into the men?s bathroom around 12:30 p.m. on Friday. According to the boy, he glanced down and saw his reflection in a mirror sticking out from under the stall. After being notified a police officer says he returned to the restroom where he saw the defendant still manipulating the mirror and quickly arrested him.

Police say the peeping tom is 60-year-old Heinz Vonancken a registered level two sex offender. Vonancken, a father of two, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Vonancken was released on $500 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned October 10.
