Nassau police say father-son feud at center of doctor's slaying
(08/28/05) WESTBURY ? Police say the son of a Nassau University Medical Center doctor murdered his father over a long-standing feud.
According to Nassau County police officials, 67-year-old Dr. Joseph Kazigo and his son had long been at odds for undisclosed reasons. Authorities say those tensions came to a boiling point this week when the son, Mulumba Kazigo, beat his father with a baseball bat and slit his throat in the doctor?s Westbury home. A massive search was launched after the doctor failed to report for work.
Police say shortly after his arrest, Mulumba led authorities to his slain father?s body. The doctor?s son has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder. However, police officials say they have a written and taped confession from the suspect.
Dr. Kazigo was a Westchester resident who stayed on Long Island to be closer to his job.
