Police accuse Lindenhurst man of stalking teen boy
(01/30/06) EAST ISLIP ? Suffolk County police have arrested a Lindenhurst man and accused him of stalking a 13-year-old boy.
Police say Donald Beyer, 55, met the boy while working on a Long Island theater production in May of 2005. According to investigators, Beyer sent the teen gifts and regularly attended his plays after the production ended. Authorities say Beyer continued to fixate on the boy over several months even though the boy?s parents asked him to stop.
Suffolk County police officers arrested Beyer, a self-employed music teacher, Sunday and charged him with stalking. Police say Beyer was previously found guilty of sexual abuse in 1974, but he never served time for that conviction. Neighbors in Lindenhurst say they will be keeping a sharp eye on their children after Beyer?s arrest.
