Oil mix-up leaves Bethpage couple with flood of problems
A Bethpage couple was left with a flooded basement Tuesday after a deliveryman pumped more than 150 gallons of oil into a home equipped for gas.
Juliann and Edward Tesoriero say they were gone for less than an hour when a Benit Oil deliveryman pumped the oil into the wrong home. They say they switched from oil to gas more than 35 years ago, but the pipe used to pump in oil was never removed.
The Tesorieros say all their basement possessions are ruined and a Haz Mat unit has deemed the house is uninhabitable for at least a month due to fumes. The couple says their insurance company is denying payment and that the oil company is liable for damages. The insurance company is paying for the couple?s hotel and food.
