Thief robs Roslyn High School of charity money

Nassau police are searching for a thief who stole $8,000 from a safe at Roslyn High School.
School officials say students raised more than $19,000 in cash and checks for the American Cancer Society and the Oncology department of North Shore-LIJ in a fashion show last Friday. Officials say that money was placed in a safe in the main office of the high school, but that the safe was not locked. Police say the thief stole the cash, but left the checks.
Parents and students say they are shocked someone would steal money collected for such a good cause. School district officials say they still have more than $11,000 to be donated for cancer research.
