Police search for Bay Shore man who exposed himself to child

Bay Shore police are looking for a man who approached a fourth-grader at a bus stop and exposed himself Thursday.

The mother of the victim says the man tried to lure her son into a car before exposing himself and masturbating while staring at the boy. She says school district officials told her they would take care of the situation, but then failed to contact police or inform parents of other students in a timely manner.

The boy's mother says she took her son to the police station, where he was able to identify a picture of the suspect. School officials sent a letter to parents vaguely describing the incident, but did not describe its sexual nature. News 12 Long Island attempted to contact the Bay Shore School District, but calls were not returned.
