Cab driver stabbed during robbery in Hempstead
A taxi driver was attacked early Sunday morning during in what police say was a robbery.
Officials say the 61-year-old driver for the Express-Valentine Taxi Company stopped for two men he thought were fares and was stabbed in the face hand and arm. Although he was badly hurt, detectives say the driver was still able to get back to the taxi office and call police.
Afterwards he was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where he was treated. Doctors say he received more than 100 stitches to repair his gashes.
