An elderly North Woodmere man escaped from the trunk of his own car after being abducted by two men early Thursday.
The 75-year-old man says he was kidnapped at gunpoint while opening up the Young Israel of North Woodmere Synagogue on Hungry Harbor Road. Police say two masked gunman followed him inside, demanded money and then forced him into the trunk of his car. Authorities say the suspects threatened to burn the car with the man inside if he did not give them the proper pin number for his ATM card.
Police say the suspects abandoned the car in Queens, where the man inside the trunk found a spare key in his pocket and managed to escape. Police are searching for the two suspects.
