Man accused of hitting toddler while shouting ethnic slurs in Patchogue

A Farmingville man was arrested Sunday for allegedly hitting a 2-year-old while shouting ethnic slurs in Patchogue.

Police say 27-year-old Harley Heyward continually taunted patrons of the Super Laundromat on East Main Street with anti-Hispanic comments. According to police, Heyward later entered the facility, kicked and shoved a toddler while shouting ethnic slurs and curses.

Heyward was charged with aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child as a hate incident.
