Pipe bursts in Nassau Coliseum, damaging Islanders' workout, locker rooms
A burst pipe at Nassau Coliseum dumped what the Islanders say is sewage into the their workout and locker room.
Islanders General Manager Mike Milbury says he was at home Saturday night when he received a call about a problem at the Coliseum. He arrived to find a big mess. He says the sewage came from the concourse area and flooded the locker room, changing areas and workout room.
Workers are cleaning up the mess and Milbury says they?re doing a good job, but he?s frustrated. He?s calling this a complete disaster and says the smell is unpleasant at best. Milbury says the worst damage was done to the workout room. He adds there was another leak in the same area last fall.
Coliseum officials say the arena is open for business, and a Sunday night concert will procede as planned. They say the leak was water, not sewage.
