(AP) - Police on eastern Long Island say theyhave arrested three people on aggravated harassment charges afterthey kicked and hit a victim while uttering anti-gay remarks.
Authorities say 21-year-old Nora Mitzner and 25-year-old LindsayMcBeth and 20-year-old Selwyn Icangelo pleaded not guilty at theirarraignments in First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.McBeth did not have an attorney and Mitzner was represented byLegal Aid, which does not comment on pending cases. Icangelo'sattorney did not immediately return a call for comment.
Suffolk County Police responded to a 911 call of a fight Mondaynight in Mastic Beach. They say the trio kicked, hit and pushed theunidentified woman while making remarks about her sexualorientation.
A police spokesman says the aggravated harassment chargesreflect the alleged bias.
