Cell antennas spark health fears in Woodmere
Residents in one Woodmere neighborhood say they?re worried about the radiation from cell phone antennas that have recently popped on utility poles.
NextG Networks has been installing hundreds of the low-power antennas across the Town of Hempstead. Most are being built on existing poles, but the company has also erected new ones.
Residents say they?re concerned about a possible impact on their health. The company, however, says radiation from the towers is so low the FCC doesn't even monitor their emissions. NextG Networks and the Town of Hempstead say they want to work together to come up with a solution that will please both sides.
